ABOUT ME
Who am I
I am an Irish physiotherapist who graduated from University College Dublin in 2004. I completed all of my rotational post-graduate training in teaching hospitals in Dublin. This involved working in all areas of physiotherapy including Neurology, Respiratory, Critical care, Oncology, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal.
In 2006, I got the travel bug and spent 4 months in South America before arriving and deciding to settle in Queenstown, New Zealand, where my passion for Sports Medicine became apparent. Here, I worked with many athletes and indeed injuries, from a variety of sports including skiing/snowboarding, downhill biking, sailing, sky diving, boxing, soccer, golf and of course rugby! I also got the unique experience of working as a soft tissue therapist with the All Blacks and the Australasian PGA golf tour.
In 2010, I was faced with committing to New Zealand or moving home and decided I in the very least needed to be closer to home. I moved back to Ireland and began to work in a foot and ankle clinic as well as a sports injury clinic in Dublin. Here, I worked with two amazing therapists who encouraged me to continue my education. With this in mind, I decided to move to London in 2011 to do a Masters in Kings College in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Science. This was an extremely challenging masters which made me question all aspects of my profession and really realise the huge and empowering impact a physiotherapist can have on a patient. I gained an insight into the effects pain can have on all aspects of life and learnt to appreciate the major link between the mind and body.
Once my masters was completed, I chose to work in Kensington Physio and Sports Medicine for 3 years before moving to Beyond Health in Parsons Green in 2015, where I became Clinical Director in November 2016 until August 2019. During my time in London, I have also had the pleasure of working privately with many professional golfers and tennis players as well as many actors, comedians and performing artists.
I now work out of two venues, and have access to a full gym and reformer pilates in each venue. This allows me the opportunity to really focus on essential exercise rehabilitation for clients as well as providing appropriate hands on treatment. I feel confident that in these surroundings I can offer my clients optimum recovery potential and can take them to heights that they never believed were possible after their injury.
I do work with many excellent practitioners, physicians, surgeons and trainers so at times during one's recovery, depending on where you, as the client, wants to get to and what the complaint is, with consent I, may involve other practitioners in overall care.
My main mission is and always will be to help clients become pain free as quickly as possible, to understand their body, regain function and improve their overall quality of life by getting them to a level of performance which they are proud of.
